That Boy-A Poem

 

I can still remember the day that I first set eyes upon you.

Your hat hid your eyes and you hand your hands in your pockets too.

Neither one of us knew on that day,

That fate was going to play out in it’s own little way.

 

What started out so sweet and innocent,

Quickly grew into a serious commitment.

Before we knew it two years had flown by.

Neither one of really noticed the time.

 

Marriage and a family fell into place just fine.

 But some days I wish we could just rewind,

To time when it was just us

And we didn’t have to worry about so much.

 

Do you remember the days from before?

When it was me and you and nothing more?

The long nights that we would spend just talking,

Or in the bathtub just relaxing and soaking?

 

I know that life sometimes get in the way

Of all the little things that I try to say.

I hope you know how much I still adore you

You are my heart and soul and there is no one else above you.

 

I don’t regret the life that I have chosen for me.

Because with you is where I always want to be.

I hope you never doubt the love that I have for you

I promise that it will always be honest and true.

 

I will  never forget that boy at my door

All of those years before

Who knew that fate had control that night

And it has been helping us along all of our life.
